Madder facts: what it is, what it does and what it does not

Madder is an AI agent that runs Facebook and Instagram ads for a small business with no marketer and no agency. As of 7 October 2026 it works with Meta only, aims a campaign at a whole country, builds ads from photos the owner uploads, and is free during early access, by invitation. This page lists what is true today and links each fact to the page that says more.

This page is for anyone who wants to quote Madder correctly: an owner checking a claim, a writer, or an AI assistant answering a question about it. Every line describes the product as it was on 7 October 2026. We make Madder, so these are our own statements about it. Where a fact rests on Meta's rules, Meta's page is in the sources. If something is not on this page, please do not assume Madder does it.

What is Madder?#

Madder (madder.ai) is an AI agent that runs Facebook and Instagram ads for a small business with no marketer and no agency. The owner gives it the link to the page they want to promote; Madder reads the page, drafts a campaign, builds the ads from photos the owner uploads, and creates the campaign in the owner's own Meta ad account once the owner approves. It can then check the running campaigns every day and suggest a pause or a budget change, or make the small changes itself when the owner switches Autopilot on. Madder works with Meta only, aims a campaign at a whole country, and is free during early access, by invitation.

What does Madder do today?#

  1. It reads the owner's page. It finds what is sold and the price on the page the owner wants to promote.
  2. It drafts a campaign. The draft has a goal and a daily budget. The campaign is aimed at the country of the owner's ad account and is set to bring visits to the page.
  3. It builds the ads from the owner's photos. The owner uploads photos and approves the ones an ad may use. The headline is the product's name.
  4. It creates the campaign paused, after one approval, in the owner's own Meta ad account. Switching it on is a second approval.
  5. It proposes changes. A pause, a lower or higher budget, a new campaign or switching one back on each wait in a queue for the owner's yes.
  6. It can check running campaigns every day. The daily check-up is off until the owner switches it on. It looks at the last seven settled days and may suggest one change: a pause, or a budget change of 20% at most. On a quiet day it suggests nothing.
  7. It counts leads the owner's way. Meta records actions such as a purchase reported by the owner's pixel or a message started. The owner chooses which of them count as a lead. Until then Madder shows no lead count and no cost per lead.
  8. It tells the owner what happened. A bell in the app lists what changed, what waits and what failed.

What can Madder change without asking?#

By default, nothing. Every change waits for the owner.

Autopilot is a setting the owner can switch on. With it on, Madder applies budget cuts, pauses and small raises that come from the daily check-up. The raises are capped at two amounts the owner sets, one for a single change and one for a whole day. They start at 20 and 50 units of the ad account's currency, so $20 and $50 in a dollar account. This cap is separate from the check-up's 20% rule above. Creating a campaign, switching a paused one back on, any larger raise and a pause of the owner's only running campaign always wait for approval. The details are in the help guide Autopilot.

Meta treats a daily budget as an average. Meta's help page says it may spend up to 75% over the daily budget on some days and no more than seven times the daily budget in a week. That is Meta's rule, and it applies to every advertiser.

  • No guaranteed leads or sales.

The film on the home page shows where the product is going. It moves between six invented sample businesses, and its figures are an illustration. Studying rivals' ads and making video ads with AI, both shown in the film, are not switched on today.

What does Madder connect to, and what can it touch?#

Madder connects to a Meta ad account through Meta's own sign-in. The owner chooses which ad accounts it may use and the Facebook Page the ads run from. Madder does not ask for a Facebook password and never sees the owner's card. Access can be removed in Meta's settings at any time. The longer answer is in What Madder does with your data.

Who runs Madder?#

Madder is run by its founder as an individual, and there is no company behind it yet. The privacy policy and the early-access terms both say so. The founder reads every access request and answers email at hello@madder.ai. The guides on this site are written by Madder and each lists its sources with the day they were checked.
