Switch Autopilot on or off

Autopilot lets Madder apply the agent's budget cuts and pauses, and small raises from the daily check-up, without your tap; launches, resumes and other raises still wait for you.

Checked 6 Oct 2026

It is off until you switch it on.

Before you start#

  • You need a role that can both approve spend and manage the agent. An owner has both.
  • Check your ceilings first: see Budgets. Autopilot works inside them and never changes them.

1. Open the setting#

Open Settings → Agent. The first card is Autopilot.

2. Switch it on#

Turn on Let Madder apply its own changes. The line under the switch reads On since with the date and time.

3. Know what is applied without you#

  • A budget cut the agent proposes.
  • A pause the agent proposes.
  • A budget raise that comes from the Daily check-up, up to the amounts under How much it may raise on its own: 20 in one change and 50 in one day across all campaigns, in your ad account's currency, until you change them and press Save.

Your own ceilings still apply on top.

The check-up proposes a raise only when the last 7 settled days show at least 10 leads, each costing at most 0.8 of the account's cost per lead over 30 days, with the daily budget nearly used up on at least 5 days. The raise is at most 20% of the daily budget.

4. Know what still waits for you#

  • Creating a campaign.
  • Switching a paused campaign back on.
  • A raise above either Autopilot amount.
  • A raise the agent proposes in a chat, whatever its size.
  • Changes to the agent's memory and playbooks.
  • Any proposal that was already waiting when you switched Autopilot on.

These stay under Needs your call until you approve or dismiss them.

5. Switch the daily check-up on#

The card under Autopilot is Daily check-up, off until you switch it on. Set Every day at (your workspace's timezone) and turn on Check my campaigns every day.

Once a day Madder checks each running campaign against fixed rules. Only for a campaign that passes may the agent propose the one change the rules allow:

  • Pause — no leads over at least 3 settled days, after spending at least 3 times the account's cost per lead and 3 times the daily budget.
  • A smaller daily budget — at least 3 leads, each costing at least 1.5 times the account's cost per lead.
  • A larger daily budget — the rule in step 3.

A budget moves by 20% at most; Largest budget change sets 10% or 15%.

Last check-up shows, for each ad account, how many campaigns were checked, how many changes were suggested, and why the rest were left alone:

  • still learning — the campaign first spent less than 7 days ago.
  • budget split over several ad sets — the check-up suggests nothing for it. Madder pauses it only if you ask.
  • leads not confirmed — see What counts as a lead.
  • leads stopped arriving everywhere at once — check your pixel or form.
  • The check-up suggests pausing your only running campaign — that pause waits for you.

6. See what was applied#

The Autopilot card lists the latest changes under Applied by Autopilot: what was changed, in which ad account, and when.

7. Switch it off#

Turn the same switch off. Every change then waits for your tap again. Applied changes stay applied.

If it doesn't work#

  • The switch is greyed out — your role cannot approve spend or cannot manage the agent. Ask an owner.
  • Autopilot is on and a change still waits — it is a launch, a resume, a raise above an Autopilot amount, or it was proposed before you switched Autopilot on.
  • A small raise still waits — the agent proposed it in a chat, not from the daily check-up.
  • Nothing is being proposed — Autopilot applies proposals; it does not create them. Switch on the daily check-up in step 5, ask the agent, or see Schedule a digest.
