Billing

Ad spend is billed by Meta, Google and TikTok directly; Madder is free during the private beta and its billing screen is coming.

One minute to read.

Before you start#

  • Settings → Billing is visible to owners and admins (Billing & plan).

1. Two bills, two places#

What you pay the platforms is your ad spend. Meta, Google and TikTok charge the payment method on the ad account, at their own schedule, and issue their own invoices. Madder never sees or changes that payment method, never holds spending limits on the platform, and never adds anything to that bill.

What you pay Madder is the subscription for the workspace. It is separate from ad spend and is never taken from your ad account.

2. Where each invoice lives#

  • Meta — Meta Ads Manager → Billing (billing and payments for the ad account).
  • Google — Google Ads → Billing → Documents.
  • TikTok — TikTok Ads Manager → Payment / billing for the advertiser account.
  • Madder — Settings → Billing, once plans launch.

Madder shows you spend from the platforms so you can reconcile, but the platform's own invoice is the document of record.

3. Madder's billing screen today#

Settings → Billing shows Private beta, Active · free, and this note: your workspace is on the beta plan with no charges and no seat limits while we build. When plans launch, seats, payment method and invoices will live there. As of September 2026 there is nothing to pay Madder and no card to add.

4. What a budget in Madder does to your bill#

A Daily budget and every approved budget change set the platform's budget on that campaign. That is what the platform then charges you for. Madder's daily ceilings cap how much upward change can be approved per day; see Budgets.

If it doesn't work#

  • Spend in Madder differs from the platform invoice — Madder shows daily delivery figures; invoices are billed on the platform's thresholds and may lag. Compare the same date range with Last N days ending yesterday.
  • A platform paused your ads for payment — fix the payment method in that platform; Madder cannot. It will show the campaign as not delivering.
  • You were charged by Madder — you were not; there is no Madder billing yet. Check the charge's merchant name.
