Madder vs AdAdvisor – which fits a small business?

AdAdvisor's agent, Nova, costs $199 a month per business ($75 for its first 100 founding members), is invite-only, and works on Meta ads, as its pricing page read on 7 October 2026. It speaks to media buyers and can run an account by itself inside spending ceilings. Madder is free during early access, is also Meta only, and is built for an owner who has never set up a campaign. AdAdvisor does more for an account that already spends.

AdAdvisor and Madder are both AI agents for Meta ads, and both ask before they act unless you tell them otherwise. They are built for different people. AdAdvisor's footer says "Built for media buyers, by media buyers", and its agent Nova is made to run an account that already spends. Madder starts one step earlier, with an owner who has a page to promote and no campaign yet.

What we say about AdAdvisor comes from its own website, read on 7 October 2026. We have not used the product. We make Madder.

Where AdAdvisor is the better pick#

  • Your account already spends and has history. Nova is described as an account manager. It paces a monthly budget, moves money between ads and launches tests. Madder's daily check-up makes one small suggestion at a time.
  • You sell through Shopify. AdAdvisor says Nova reads products, margins and stock from Shopify. Madder reads your product page and does not connect to a shop's back office.
  • You want AI-made ad images now. Nova's plan includes 300 images a month per business. In Madder, making images with AI is built and not switched on.
  • You want your tracking checked. AdAdvisor says Nova audits the Meta pixel and server events on a schedule. Madder does not audit tracking.
  • You want rival ads watched. AdAdvisor says Nova monitors your top five competitors in Meta's Ad Library. In Madder that part is being switched on in early access; today it reads a competitor's landing page.
  • You already work inside Claude or another AI assistant. AdAdvisor sells a connector with 42 tools for that. Madder has none.

Where Madder is the better pick#

  • You have never run a campaign. Madder asks for a link and your photos, then drafts the whole campaign in plain words. You do not need to know what an ad set is.
  • The fee matters next to your budget. At $199 a month, a tool costs as much as many small businesses spend on the ads themselves. AdAdvisor makes a related point in its own blog, where it writes that below roughly $1,500 a month of ad spend Meta's Advantage+ alone may be enough (September 2026). Madder is free during early access. Its later price is not set, so this may change.
  • You want one fixed line on launches. In Madder a campaign is never created or switched on without your approval, whatever is switched on. AdAdvisor lists new campaign launches among the things Nova writes to the account, inside the limits you set.
  • You want to choose what counts as a lead. Madder counts leads only from the actions you confirmed as real enquiries. See Deciding what counts as a lead.

What neither can do for you today#

Both tools are hard to get into this month. Nova is invite-only, and its page says the first 100 founding members were being taken on through the second and third quarters of 2026. Madder is in closed early access with a waitlist. If you need ads running this week, Meta's own free tools are the route that is open to everyone. See Madder or Meta's own tools.

What Madder does not do today#

  • It works with Meta only. Google Ads and TikTok are not available.
  • It aims a campaign at a whole country. It cannot yet aim at a city, a radius or an interest.
  • It sets a campaign to bring visits to your page. It does not yet optimise for leads or purchases, and it does not create lead forms or catalogue ads.
  • It does not build audiences or adjust targeting. Its daily check-up suggests a pause, a smaller budget or a larger one.
  • It is in early access, with no customer results to show.

Questions people ask#

How much does AdAdvisor cost?

Its pricing page lists a free plan for one business, and Nova at $199 a month per business, or $75 a month for the first 100 founding members, with up to five businesses on that plan (checked 7 October 2026). Plans for connecting your own AI assistant start at $19.99 a month. Your ad spend is separate and goes to Meta.

Can I sign up for AdAdvisor's Nova today?

Not directly. Its pricing page marks Nova as invite-only while the founding members are taken on, and says a 3-day trial will come when self-serve opens. The free plan is open.

Does AdAdvisor change my ads without asking?

Only if you choose that. Its Nova page says Nova ships in Suggest mode, where you approve, reject or edit each change. In Autopilot mode Nova acts inside spending ceilings and approval thresholds you set.

What is a good AdAdvisor alternative for a small business?

If you have no campaign yet, a small budget and no marketer, Madder is built for that case, on Facebook and Instagram, and is free during early access. If you want to stay free and do the setup yourself, Meta's Advantage+ is the other option.

Is Madder an official Meta partner like AdAdvisor?

No. AdAdvisor states that it is an Official Meta Tech Partner. Madder connects through Meta's official sign-in and API and holds no partner status.
