There is no single best tool, because these tools are built for different people. Some are free and come from Meta. Some say a small business can start with them. Some speak mostly to brands and agencies. Find your group first. Then compare three things: the price, the platforms, and what the tool may change in your account without asking.
Everything below was read on each company's own website on 6 October 2026. Prices and features change, so check the linked page before you pay. We make Madder, which is one of the tools on this page, so we have listed where it is weaker.
The three groups#
| Group | Who it suits | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Free tools from Meta | Owners who are willing to learn Ads Manager, or who already use ChatGPT or Claude | Meta's AI connectors, Meta's own automatic settings in Ads Manager |
| Tools a small business can start with | A small business that wants much of the setup done for it | AdControlCenter, AdAdvisor, Adspirer, Zeely, Ryze AI, Madder |
| Tools that speak mostly to brands and agencies | Teams that run many ads and want speed and volume | AdAmigo, Madgicx, AdStellar |
Free tools from Meta#
Start here if your budget is small and you have some time. Meta names no fee for its own tools on top of what you pay for the ads.
Since 29 April 2026 Meta has offered AI connectors, in open beta. They let an AI assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude create and edit campaigns in your ad account and report on results, in plain language. Meta names no fee for the connectors, and the assistant you use may have its own price. The assistant does what you ask, so you still need to know what to ask for. We cover them in Can ChatGPT run my Facebook ads?.
One vendor says the same thing about small budgets. AdAdvisor, which sells a paid agent, writes that below roughly $1,500 a month of ad spend Meta's Advantage+ automation alone may be enough (September 2026). The comparison with Meta's own tools is in Madder or Meta's own tools.
Tools a small business can start with#
The grouping is ours. Several of these also sell to agencies and to people who buy ads for a living.
| Tool | Published price | Platforms it lists | What it says about changing things by itself |
|---|---|---|---|
| AdControlCenter | One plan, shown as a founder rate of $39.90 a month against a crossed-out $59, up to 15 campaigns a month, 7-day free trial | Google, Meta, Reddit, TikTok, LinkedIn and X | Every campaign is deployed paused and nothing spends until someone approves it. After launch its site says the AI "fixes critical issues automatically" |
| AdAdvisor (its agent is called Nova) | A free plan with dashboards. Nova is by invitation, at $199 a month per business, or $75 a month for the first 100 founding members | Meta | Suggest mode by default, where each change waits in an approval queue. An optional Autopilot mode acts within limits you set |
| Adspirer | Free for 15 tasks a month, then $49, $99 or $199 a month, or $40, $83 or $167 when billed yearly | Google, Meta, LinkedIn, TikTok, Amazon and ChatGPT ads | Works inside ChatGPT or Claude. New campaigns stay paused and you approve what goes live |
| Zeely | $29.95, $49.95 or $79.95 a month, by credits. Its FAQ says running ads through Zeely can carry an extra charge of up to 12% | Makes ads for six platforms. Its pricing page describes launching on Facebook and Instagram | Mainly makes AI video and image ads. Its help centre says nothing publishes without your approval (July 2026) |
| Ryze AI | From $89 a month for its Paid Ads plan, with a 7-day trial for a $1 setup fee. A separate Agency plan is $279 a month | Google, Meta, TikTok and LinkedIn | Its pricing page says optimisation is "executed, not just suggested" and also lists "approval controls". It does not say which is the default |
| Madder | Free during early access. It will be paid later and the price is not set | Meta only | Created paused, switched on by a separate approval. Autopilot is optional and off by default |
A few notes. AdControlCenter is the closest product to Madder and covers far more platforms. See Madder vs AdControlCenter. Adspirer needs you to be comfortable working inside an AI assistant. Zeely is first a tool for making ads, so compare it with a design tool more than with an ads manager. The longer comparisons are Madder vs Zeely and Madder vs AdAdvisor.
Tools that speak mostly to brands and agencies#
These can work for a small business. Their own pages speak mostly to larger buyers.
| Tool | Who it says it is for | Published price | Platforms |
|---|---|---|---|
| AdAmigo | Agencies and brands of every size. It also says it needs no prior ads experience | $99 a month per ad account on the entry plan, which it calls ideal for accounts spending under $2,000 a month, or $349 a month per ad account for unlimited access. 7-day free trial | Meta and Google |
| Madgicx | Calls itself "the first Ecom Ad Cloud" and "the secret AI Ads Manager top ad agencies use" | Set by your monthly ad spend, from $45 a month for less than $1,000 of spend to $329 a month for $20,000 to $30,000. 7-day free trial | Meta |
| AdStellar | Its home page says it supports "4,400+ Brands and Agencies" | One plan priced by monthly AI credits, from $100 a month | Meta |
AdAmigo offers two ways of working: review first, where it prepares recommendations and waits for your approval, or auto-apply, where it makes changes overnight. If you are weighing it, see Madder vs AdAmigo. AdStellar is compared in Madder vs AdStellar. If you are looking at Madgicx and you do not run an online shop, see Madder vs Madgicx.
What to ask before you choose#
- Is it built for someone like me? Read the home page. If it talks mostly about brands, agencies and scaling, check whether it says it works for a beginner.
- What is the full monthly cost? Check whether the price is per ad account, whether it grows with your ad spend, and whether credits are extra.
- What can it change without me? Ask which changes are applied automatically and which wait. Budget raises matter most.
- Does it work where my customers are? A tool that covers six platforms is no use if it is weak on the one you need.
- How does it connect? You should sign in on Meta's own page. The checks are in Is it safe to connect an AI tool to your ad account?.
Where Madder fits, and where it is weaker#
Madder does the setup for an owner and then looks after the campaign. You give it the link to your page. It reads what you sell, drafts a campaign, builds ads from photos you upload and approve, and creates the campaign paused in your own Meta ad account. You switch it on with a separate approval. After that it can check your campaigns once a day and suggest a pause or a budget change when the numbers are clear.
It is weaker than the others in these ways:
- One platform. Madder works with Meta only. Google Ads and TikTok are not available.
- Country-wide ads only. A campaign is aimed at a country. Madder cannot yet aim at a city or an interest.
- Your own photos. Ads are built from photos you upload. Making images and video with AI is coming to early access and is not available today.
- Early access. You join a waitlist. There is no price yet and no track record to show you.
The steps are at How Madder works.
Questions people ask#
What is the best AI tool to run Facebook ads for a small business?
It depends on your group. With a small budget and some time, Meta's free tools may be enough. If you want the setup done for you, compare the tools in the second group on price, platforms and what they may change without asking.
Are there free AI tools for Facebook ads?
Yes. Meta names no fee for its AI connectors, announced on 29 April 2026, which let an assistant such as ChatGPT or Claude work in your ad account. Adspirer lists a free plan with 15 tasks a month. Madder is free during early access.
Can these tools spend my money without asking?
Some can, if you let them. AdAdvisor and AdAmigo both describe a mode that applies changes automatically and a mode that waits for approval. Madder's Autopilot is off by default and never starts a campaign.
Which AI ads tools work with Google Ads as well as Meta?
On their own pages, AdControlCenter, Adspirer, AdAmigo and Ryze AI list Google among their platforms (checked 6 October 2026). Madder does not work with Google Ads today.
