Account audits

An account audit reads every campaign in parts, ranks what it found, and proposes at most a few changes that wait for your approval.

Before you start#

  • A connected ad account with synced metrics. An audit over an account with no data says so and proposes nothing.
  • To start or schedule an audit you need the Manage agent capability (owners and admins). See Roles and members.

1. Start an audit of your whole ad account#

Two ways:

  1. On demand. Ask the agent on the home screen: "audit the Meta account" or "run an account audit". It queues an audit run instead of answering in place.
  2. On a schedule. Open Settings › Agent › Schedules, choose Add a daily digest, and pick Weekly account audit as the kind. Weekly is the sensible cadence; an audit reads every campaign and costs more than a digest.

2. How an audit runs#

  1. Madder splits the account's campaigns into parts of a few dozen each, at most eight parts.
  2. Each part is read by the agent on its own, with read-only tools, and returns a short list of findings: a campaign, what changed, and how much.
  3. When every part is done, the agent reads all findings together, explains the three that matter most, and proposes at most a few changes. Each proposal waits in Needs your call like any other.

While it runs, the home screen shows Account audit · 3 of 6 parts done under Running now.

3. What an audit can and cannot do#

  • It reads. The parts that read campaigns cannot propose anything; only the final step can, and only through proposals you approve.
  • It counts against the workspace's agent budget like any other request, and a scheduled audit never takes the last fifth of the day's asks.
  • It does not touch platform billing, creatives, or accounts you have not connected. See What the agent can and cannot do.

If it doesn't work#

  • "Account audit" stays at the same number of parts — a part is waiting for the platform. Wait; a stuck part is retried and, if it keeps failing, the audit ends with the parts it has.
  • The audit finished with no proposals — nothing crossed the bar. The write-up under Last digest on the schedule row (or under the run on the home screen) still lists the findings.
  • "Only a proposal-free agent kind may be scheduled" — you tried to schedule something that is not a digest or an audit. Pick one of the two kinds.
  • The audit was skipped — the day's agent budget was mostly used. See Scheduled digests.
