Upload the images your ads show and approve the ones a campaign may use; Madder attaches them paused when you approve the campaign. Uploading and approving one image takes a minute. Making images from a product arrives next.

Before you start#

  • A product with a scan (see Products). Every creative belongs to a product, so the campaign drafted for that product can use it.
  • A member who can draft campaigns. Everyone else sees the Library read-only.
  • An image sized for a placement: 1:1 Square (feed on FB + IG), 4:5 Portrait (feed on phones), 9:16 Vertical (Stories and Reels) or 16:9 Wide. Pick 1:1 and 9:16 for a normal Meta campaign. Each placement is its own image.

1. Open Creatives#

Open Creatives from the rail. Two views sit under the title: Make and Library. From a draft on the Campaigns page, Upload creatives opens the same page with the product already picked and a way back to the draft.

Making images from a product arrives next; the Make view says so and offers nothing until it does. Everything below happens in Library.

2. Add images to your ad — upload your own#

In Library, choose the product in the Product filter, then drop images into the box at the top or press choose files. Madder takes png, jpeg, webp and gif up to 25 MB each, reads the size, and infers the placement from the image's shape. The toast reads Uploaded — 1080×1350, 4:5. and the tile lands in Draft.

An image whose shape is none of the four placements is refused — resize it to one of them first.

3. Approve#

Hover a tile (or tap it) and press Approve. The chip reads Approved for ads and the toast says Approved — campaigns for <Product> can use it. Nothing spends. To approve several at once, tick their checkboxes and press Approve 3 in the strip. Approving a creative spends nothing; it only tells Madder which images a campaign for that product may use.

Archive hides a creative from campaigns; Restore in the Archived view brings it back. Download saves the file. Click the image to open it large, with its placement, source and size; ← and → move between tiles, Esc closes.

4. Where they go#

When you approve a drafted campaign, Madder creates it paused in Meta and, if the product has approved creatives, creates the ad set and the ad with them — paused too. The draft's Add creatives item reads Creatives ready with the count once at least one is approved. Nothing spends until you press Resume → on the created campaign and approve that resume. See Approve and launch.

A creative Madder made carries an AI-made badge. Meta requires AI-made ads to be marked; the badge's note tells you whether Madder marks the ad for you or you tick AI-generated on the ad before you resume.

If it doesn't work#

  • "That file isn't an image Madder can use" — use png, jpeg, webp or gif, 25 MB or less.
  • "That image isn't 1:1, 4:5, 9:16 or 16:9" — crop or resize it to one of the four placements and upload again.
  • Pick a product above to upload to it — the filter is on All products and the workspace has more than one; choose the product the image belongs to.
  • Add a product first — the workspace has no product yet. Press Add product; creatives are made from a product.
  • Read-only for your role — ask someone who can draft campaigns to upload or approve, or ask an owner for Draft campaigns.
  • Not saved on a tile — Madder could not copy the image into your library and the provider's link expires; press Download now to keep it.
  • "This creative changed elsewhere" — another member saved it first. Madder shows their version; make your change again.
  • The draft still says "Add creatives" — the approved creative belongs to another product. Check the Product filter and the product the draft names under its title.
