How Madder works

Madder drafts your campaign paused, you approve it, it goes live, and every later money move comes back to you as a proposal.

Checked 5 Oct 2026

Reading this takes two minutes; the first loop takes about ten.

Before you start#

  • A Madder workspace (you are its owner).
  • An ad account on Meta, Google or TikTok. Meta connects in one click; Google and TikTok take an account id for now.

1. Add what you promote#

On the home screen the checklist starts with Add what you promote. Press Add product: it opens Settings › Products with the form ready. Paste the link of your site, landing page or app and press Save. Madder reads the page once for its title, images and price; the row says Scanning… until it has. Every brief starts by picking a product. See Products.

2. Connect an ad account#

Next is Connect an ad account — where the campaign runs. Press Add account, pick the platform, and choose Connect in one click (Meta) or Add manually (Google, TikTok). Nothing runs until one account is linked. See Connect your Meta ad account.

3. Describe what you're promoting#

Press Describe offer. The form asks five things: What are you promoting?, What counts as a win?, Daily budget, Most you'll pay per win and How will we track results?. Press Build my campaign →. Madder reads your account, drafts the campaign and queues it for approval. See Describe what you promote.

4. Add creatives#

The checklist's Add creatives step is the images your ad shows. Press Upload creatives: the Creatives page opens with your product picked. Drop an image into the Library, or choose a file, then press Approve on its tile — the chip reads Approved for ads. Making images from the product arrives next; uploads work today. See Creatives.

5. Review the draft — it is paused#

The draft lands on the Campaigns page as a Draft row. Press Review to expand it: the badge reads Draft · not live yet and a Get it ready checklist sits beside the facts; with an approved creative its Add creatives item reads Creatives ready. Open See Madder's full write-up to read the audience, placements and budget in plain language. + New campaign on this page opens the same brief as the home screen.

6. Approve, then switch it on#

Press Approve →. Approval takes the proposal from pending to scheduled; Madder's executor then creates the campaign paused in your ad account — with its ad, when the product has an approved creative — and records it as executed. The row moves from Draft to Approved, then Created · paused. Press Resume → on that row to file a resume proposal; approving it under Needs your call is what switches the campaign on. Nothing spends before that. See Approve and launch.

7. Madder proposes, you approve#

From here you ask the agent about spend and results. Open the agent card (the disc bottom-right on every screen, or ⌘K); see The agent widget. Every change it wants is a proposal, and every proposal waits for you in Needs your call on the home screen: a launch, a budget change, a pause. A budget rise above your per-change ceiling is refused even if you approve it. You press Approve or leave it. The agent cannot approve its own proposals; the database refuses it. See What the agent can and cannot do.

If it doesn't work#

  • The brief has no product to pick — step 1 is not done. Press Add product on the checklist, or type a new link in the brief's + New product….
  • The checklist says "Nothing is connected yet" — step 2 is not done. Press Add account.
  • "Madder couldn't finish this draft" — press Try again. Nothing was created or spent.
  • The campaign is "Created · paused" but nothing runs — that is by design. Press Resume → on the row and approve the resume under Needs your call.
  • A campaign stays a "Draft" for days — that is by design. It waits until you approve.
